With access to a unique archive of personal letters, historian Andrew Roberts brings the story of Napoleon vividly to life. As he retraces the footsteps of the legendary leader, he sheds new light on Napoleon as an extraordinarily gifted military commander and mesmeric leader, whose private life was, contrary to popular belief, littered with disappointments and betrayals.,
For the scenes regarding Napoleon’s campaigns in Italy, the BBC asked Fabio Di Segni and ITALYfixer to provide production services for the television crew. Fabio researched and scouted locations in Milan, Lodi and Mantova.

In Milan, Fabio Di Segni organized access and film permits for filming in the cathedral square and Palazzo Serbelloni, a neoclassical palace where Napoleon and Josephine stayed in 1796. Lodi and Mantova were scenes of some of the key battles in Napoleon’s Italian campaign, and ITALYfixer helped the TV crew find the best spots to illustrate these historic events.
